The Frank Broderick retrospective features the work and honors the talent of a young painter with a growing reputation, who died unexpectedly in November 2003. The work spans several years, including high school and focuses on some of the many ink drawings, gestural abstractions in enamel and oil on canvas, and oxidized metal pieces. Frank produced an extremely large body of work in a relatively short time — always experimenting with shape making, and media to produce works of energy and color. Many pieces are from the collections of family and friends along with works that never been seen before.

He received his undergraduate BFA from SUNY–New Paltz, and his MFA from SUNY–Albany. Broderick was teaching classes at Columbia Green Community College in Hudson at the time of his death, and had taught several classes at the Arts Center for the Capitol Region in Troy as well. He had shown extensively in the area and was considered one of our brightest young stars. He rented studio space from the Fulton Street Gallery.
